  When did this forum go apostate?

  i was curious because i had heard simon was a jw when he started this forum.

  i was looking through the old posts, but couldn't really pinpoint one that was a "turning point" so-to-speak.

  simon must have left the j-dubs at some point.

  yugoslavia is my country and always will be.

  it was my motherland it represented peace, and a good future, family, joy.

  when it fell apart so did the start of falling apart of my life.

  Snowboarder ,I wish I could give you a big motherly hug . I read all your posts ,and think about what your going through , it saddens me deeply your life is and has not been your own . I wish you could have remained in the country you loved and developed a close relationship with your grandparents .

  It is hard for you right now because your young and still dependent upon your parents . My best advice to you is to never lose your focus and desire . One day you WILL be able to pursue your own destiny .....patience ....it will happen for you .

  Continue to vent your feelings here ...it is good to have a release .

  Sex at 14?

  hello all.... some of you have been following our story from the beginning - and even those of you who haven't should be able to relate to my quandary.... last week my 14 year old son told me he no longer wants to be a jw.

  we laboured over telling his jw dad all week.

  well, on friday night he finally came clean.. but in a bizarre and unexpected twist, after having sex with his girlfriend for the very first time - in his father's home that very afternoon.

  I think it is important to ask him why he choose to have sex . Was it just hormones or something deeper ? You said he doesn't want to be a JW was this his way of getting out of the cult quick card ? Or does he want out of the JW's because he discovered sex ?

  No matter what 14 is young and there is no reason why you shouldn't encourage him to put on the brakes for a couple of yrs . It is good he can talk to you openly about this ,but you are the parent and it is important for you to set guidelines as to appropriate behavior . It doesn't have to have religious meaning behind your reasoning ....it is just good common sense !

  when she was on oprah some years ago, promoting her book escape, i was mesmerized.

  (for those of you who are not familiar, she was a member fo the fundamental mormon sect and broke free).

  i went to school and had worked with mormon's in the past, so i was intruigued.

  Just finished her book today ,amazing strength this woman has . I read the book in two days I just couldn't put it down . When she talks about how she felt as a kid really hit home with me . Several things she said reminded me of how it was as a Witness .

  Saturday I am going to a girls only pot-luck of former JW ladies that all use to attend the local KH . We have all reconnected on facebook and are trying to get together once a month .

  I have recently been introduced to a new group of friends . One woman in the group puts on a Mother's Day BBQ every year for all her friends ! This will be our first year , and it sounds like a blast .

  I am amazed how warmly my husband and I hve been integrated into already established groups of friends .

  What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?

  - some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.

  i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.

  yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

  I live in the mid -west and our winters get alot of snow and freezing temps in the winter . For service I wore a long coat and high boots ,so under neath I sometimes wore pants out in service instead of a dress . How would anyone know ? But a sister complained .... The Brother used the reasoning "what if you go in a householder's house and took off your coat " ( oh I don't know ??? pants would cause them to have a heart attack ? ) Good grief !!!!

  Finally getting my life in order.

  i've been out for a few years now, officially ousted and shunned for probably a year and a half, maybe even closing in on two years, the exact date eludes me.

  and given that i was still married to a witness, and one that i cared deeply about, i wasn't overly concerned with what i wanted, so much as how to make things better for her.

  in the intervening time i think i have done that, and quite well.

  Jonathan that is awesome ! It is so encouraging to hear of someone that puts the fear behind them and pushes forward with aplan . So very happy for you . My daughter in law just made the leap into college (her life long dream ) and she is loving it ! I am sure you will too .

  yeah i thought the 4-some thing would hook some of you guys in lol!.

  she is about 24 and has three other gay jw roommates and has for a few years.

  virtually everyone knows they are gay.

  OOmpa , I use to tell my husband all the time that I thought many of our pioneers were Pioneering as penance to ease guilty consciences . Maybe not for being lesbian ,but other 'sins' especially of the past .
